Croxteth Park March 2005
Sunday, 13 August 2006

One of our semi-regular Croxteth Park Star Parties was held over the weekend of the 19th and 20th of March 2005.

The event was a success, and several members took photographs.

I would like to report that the weekend was a great success, with the public giving the event great support, even on the cloudy night on the Sunday. I understand that a total of 250 members of the public attend the two days, with Saturday presenting use with clear skies, and views of the Moon, Saturn, and later in the muck & mist Jupiter. Everyone enjoyed the event very much, and from a personal view would like to thank the staff at croxteth park for the help and assistance they gave me and fellow members of the Society would were providing lectures in the Hall.

It was great to have at least one clear night at Croxteth. It seems such a long time ago and we have not had the best of luck, weather wise, over the years. It is hard to belive that we have been doing this venue since 1985! Saturday gave exellent seeing conditions giving great views of the Moon and Saturn through Chris Bank's 8 inch f6 reflector. I even managed the 'crepe' ring (Saturn) through the 30" inch telescope.
I would like to thank you all for helping out on the night and making it a success.
I will be putting images of the event on the website soon, so keep on looking in.

Regards from David Galvin, President-Liverpool A.S
