Hello. I'm a novice to astronomy (read a couple of books watched numerous Documentaries) and I have decided to build My own telescope. I have set My heart on a 10" Dobs and if you have looked at building your own you will know that primary mirrors are enormously expensive and I refuse to spend more then £100 on a mirror (I'm on a low budget and a bit tight).
I'd like to have a go at grinding My own mirror, but I'd need an expert on hand to stop me buggering it up. I've read a lot of stuff about it on the net but can't find anywhere local that will teach Me.
If anybody has any suggestions I'd be grateful.
Thanks.
Mick.

Hi Michael, making your own mirror can be tricky and time consuming but as you say its a lot cheaper than buying one. There are a few members who make there own mirrors in fact they are making three 20" mirrors at the moment. I would suggest you come up to Pex Hill one wednesday evening and chat to Dave Owen and Geoff Regan as they will be able to give you the best advice. good luck
