The days are getting longer, and for one like me who does not take kindly to sitting up very late, the chances of night observation are getting less.

However, there is always the Sun, and this gives rise to my query.
Is it possible to persuade a GoTo telescope to track the sun during the day ?

I hope somebody knows how !

Hi John,
My old Vixen Skysensor go to will track the sun. It has a sun avoidance setting which is the default but you can enable the sun menu and the mount will happily track.

Thanks for that, Dave.  How does your Vixen get aligned?   My GoTo scopes need two stars to align them, which are not available during the day.

Yours,

Hi John,
Once the sun menu is enabled you can either press enter to go to the sun, or when the unit is turned on press escape and manually move it to the sun. It will then track.
Because it is not aligned on any star it will get somewhere close when you press the go to. If it does not actually get the sun it will probably be in the finder. I use a homemade Mylar cover for the finder (the finder is a 9 x 50).

Thanks, dave.  I'll give it a try.
