Here in the web-site it says that Pex Hill is "open to the public" on Wednesday evenings.
As a member, am I a "member of the public", and restricted to visiting Pex Hill on Wednesdays? It would be strange if the Society's observatory only opened on Wednesday nights. Is it accessible to members on other nights ? We would not hope to use the equipment there as we are so new, but it would be very instructive to attend when other more experienced members are using the telescopes, and to watch what happens.

Hi Brendan, This is a case in point, you do not say when these members nights are,so the question is not answered.

Hi Paul, the forum is generally for members of the public to ask questions or to discus astronomical topics etc. The members of the society who attend meetings are aware of the nights we meet at Pex Hill, these as our observing sessions are not published on the website so as to allow members time for observations for themselves. cheers Brendan

Hi Brendan, If you check your records I was a paid up member and did occassionally visit Pex Hill when I booked annual leave from work to do so,at no time either at Pex Hill or the meetings in town did I ever get told about members nights at Pex Hill,in fact I have never spent any time at Pex Hill on a "members night". I still cannot understand why this info can't be put on the site as only members would turn up for members nights. Please think about other people who have jobs that don't enable them to go to every event but could arrange to go to a members night if they were told about it via the website. Regards, Paul.

Can I just say on other forum sites that I have been involved in, this subject of members getting information about events only if they get to meetings or public nights like Wednesdays has came up and I must say that it would be so easy to have a members only section on the forum {password protected} just so members who cannot get to the meetings because of there jobs or for any reason can still get the information for special events for members only be it Pex Hill nights or trips out for star gazing. I would be more than interested in future events as I would like to be and feel more involved in the Society.
Thanks Kenny Crossland
PS still sign in on my brothers name dont know why?
