Bring all your bits and pieces and I am sure some body will sort it for you. Let's hope that we get some clear sky too. Smiley

Ah another Floyd fan. Cool
Before you spend out on your scope try and pop over to us and have a chat with the group. The Wednesdays are very informal and relaxed. You never know what someone may be selling and could get your self a bargain. Shine on mate.
81  General Chat / General Discussion / Re: Sky at night Sir Patrick Moore article re: Astronomical societies / clubs on: 19-Nov-2009 18:45:04 GMT
Hi Chris, yes I saw the article too. Pretty good I thought.
The observatory is open to members and visitors from 19:00 each Wednesday evening, rain or shine. These evenings are very informal and consist of observing when clear and/or general chatter.
You are most welcome to come along and meet the gang, if you have any questions then you can get your answers over a cup or tea or coffee.
Generally we suggest up to three visits and then ask if you would like to join (£15 per annum).
Full details can be found at:

Hi Mark, I am  sure that you will be most welcome at any of the events. Ask for Geof or Brendan when you arrive.
84  Astronomical Equipment / Help and Advice / Re: Hello on: 13-May-2009 19:34:06 BST
As Brendan says, pop up and visit us. Summer bright skies are coming in but we still meet at the obs for a chat every Wednesday.
You are more the welcome to bring your binos with you.

'the only survivor form 1978 to my knowledge!'
Ha Ha there a few of us still hovering around Graham. Myself, Rob Johnson, Eric Strach, Eric Jones to name a few. Occasionally see Alan Scott and Bob Halliday.
86  General Chat / General Discussion / Re: Sky at Night 6th April BBC iPlayer on: 09-Apr-2009 21:38:05 BST
Hi John, the software used on screen was 'Starry NIght Pro' which I find to be very accurate for showing such events and  it looks good too. It is a commercial software and cost around £80.

Another piece of software is Winjupos, I believe it is also free to use.

This is very accurate and covers the planets and their moons.

That is a good idea as I use one myself.  Smiley
I will try and include the info on all future venues.
88  Astronomical Equipment / Help and Advice / Re: the 12 month guild on: 05-Jan-2009 23:21:45 GMT
You should be able to pick one up at the Observatory any Wednesday evening.
89  General Chat / General Discussion / Re: ALL FORUM USERS on: 24-Nov-2008 23:37:49 GMT
'The Liverpool Astronomical Society'
As long as it is within the  definition of the society. Wink
There are plenty of other forums and websites that cover the said subjects.
Respect from Dave G.

It would be appreciated if all posters could remember that this is an astronomical website and does not cater for the study of  ufos, astrology and the paranormal. We hope that no offence is taken by this notice.
