The Liverpool Astronomical Society

I am pretty certain I know what the answer is going to be here, however I will ask anyway.

Last week there were reports that some councils down South were turning off the street lights during night time to save money. The public are not happy about it, for health but more importantly safety reasons.

How would we feel if either Liverpool, Knowsley or Sefton  councils were to start doing this?

No matter how far I stick my head out of the car window when relaxing, I have never seen the aurora borealis.


How long would my neck have to be?

For the record tonight, its a fantastic clear night sky with a heavy ground frost...Absolutely freezing.

I am a taxi driver working on nights. I have seen nearly a hundred shooting stars. When quiet of a night I just put the radio on and stick my head out of the window, thats assuming there is a clear night.

The point of my post tonight is my missus has just bought me a pair of binoculars, so I thought great.I went outside last night and the right hand lens is not in focus with left, blast...A nice clear sky was wasted.

Sounded like fun. There are related problems with astronomy and drinking you know and its called focus...No not the telescope silly, double vision through drinking so much.

I would like to attend this in Ainsdale.Can you keep some updates as regards organisation on this site please.

Does anyone know if the Wirral is going to hold another AstroFest in the space centre?
