Hi Malcolm,
I'm from snowy Skelmersdale too and I've been in the LAS for about 13 - 14 yrs now. Great bunch of people. We do have sidewalk events in Ormskirk and at the Beacon park too. Like Brendan says there is a sidewalk event at Ainsdale next month. Also Pex Hill is not too far away.Come along any Wednesday especially if the skies are clear. ;) Thing is being an astronomer means you have to be prepared to travel to better skies with less light pollution and clearer weather.
